I currently work with all sorts of different businesses, either working as Connected Landscapes, or as a freelancer working under the banner of another landscape architecture or multidisciplinary practice.
Developers, land owners, land agents and site operators – direct commissions
I work with all types of developer – residential, commercial, industrial, minerals and waste, energy and renewables, and agriculture and rural diversification. I also work with individual land/estate owners (and their agents) and homeowners.
I’ve written LVIAs for all types of development, from major residential developments on urban-edge sites proposed for 1500+ units, to energy from waste plants within major conurbations. I've designed restoration schemes for sand and gravel quarries and landfill sites, and provided contract administration services for the implementation of public realm landscaping for consortia of residential developers.
I’ve also designed and built gardens for small terraced houses in Cotswold villages, and managed teams of hard and soft landscapers constructing and planting the extensive grounds around the newly-built houses of wealthy financiers.
With my farming background, I particularly enjoy working with land agents on rural estates to ensure that new (diversified) development fits within the landscape and visual aesthetics of the estate.
Other landscape architecture, landscape planning and multi-disciplinary practices – freelance commissions
I also work freelance for other landscape architecture, landscape planning, planning and multi-disciplinary practices, helping out when their workload peaks but they don’t want to or can’t justify recruiting additional permanent staff. I can undertake site visits just to ensure that you have that all important wintertime photoview when your team are already stretched to the limit, or you can pass the whole LVIA across, leaving me to liaise with the Local Planning Authority to agree representative viewpoints, undertake the field survey and assessment, produce the plans and write the entire report.
If you're working with one of the major housebuilders and the deadline for getting on-plot planting plans for 400-units suddenly jumps forward by a week then I can help with that too.
I’m also happy to undertake technical reviews of your in-house reports to ensure accuracy, quality, or just a second opinion.
